IIT Kharagpur Admission process –
Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in IIT Kharagpur is conducted through written entrance examinations.
Admission to undergraduate programmes altogether IIT’s is tied to the Indian Institute of Technology Joint entrance exam (IIT-JEE). Candidates who quality for admission through IIT-JEE can apply for admission in a four-year B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology) degree, a five-year B.Arch. degree, a five-year Dual Degree (Integrated Bachelor & Master of Technology) or a five-year integrated M.Sc. (Master of Science) at IIT Kharagpur.
15% of the seats are reserved for college students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and 7.5% for Schedule Tribes (ST). Additionally 27% separate reservations exists for the other Backward Classes. Joint MTech / MCP (City Planning)-PhD The Institute offers joint MTech-PhD programmes within the following disciplines, entrance to which is thru the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
